THERAPEUTIC STYLE

How do I know if you're right therapist for me?
The most important thing in choosing a therapist is finding someone with whom you feel a positive connection. One of the best ways for healing to happen is through relationship, and that includes your relationship with your therapist. Your therapist can be working with the best theories in the world, but it requires that immeasurable sense of safety - of feeling truly seen and known - to do deep healing work.

Since it is hard to get a sense of someone through a website, I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation to find out if we are a good fit. Contact me today to arrange your free consultation.
Can you help me... find the love of my life?...Change my career?...Get healthy/lose weight?
The answer is: Yes!

I have done all these things, (some took longer than others!) and I can help you with these goals or any other goals you have for your life.

I work best with highly motivated clients who are ready to work hard to create change in their lives. First, I will help you to clarify your vision and find out what you really want. Then, I will work with you to create a step-by-step plan with concrete tasks between each session. It's a little like coaching, but with the added benefit that I can help you to work with any feelings or issues that may be blocking your success as you reach for your goals.
What if I'm struggling with deep pain?
I am ready to go as deep as you want. I want to hear what it is like for you as you struggle with depression, anxiety, grief, or issues with your family. I will help you to find resources in addition to therapy, and I will serve as compassionate witness and guide for you on your journey. The use of non-verbal techniques, such as Drama Therapy, can be very effective in working with emotionally charged issues.
What is Drama Therapy?
The use of Drama Therapy enables clients to get out of their heads and into action. Psychodrama, improvisation, and Playback Theatre techniques are some of the Drama Therapy tools I use to help clients access their inner wisdom, heal issues with their family of origin and express a wide range of feelings. Drama Therapy can also help clients to embody new roles (great practice for 'real life'), and get in touch with their playful and spontaneous sides. It can feel intimidating at first for some people, but it always turns out to be fun and transformative!
Do you do anything else besides Drama Therapy?
Many of my clients prefer to spend their sessions talking. In addition to being a good listener, I believe in giving my clients concrete tools and tasks to help them with their goals. I incorporate DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), Imago Relationship Therapy and an intensive knowledge of issues around internalized oppression in the work that we do together.
What is it like to work with you?
I am a warm, genuine and insightful person, and I bring these qualities to my work with clients. I am able to see the best in people, and I believe that each of us holds the potential for healing and transformation. I also love to laugh and believe that therapy can be a truly enjoyable process.
